Ecology Project on Burleigh Mountain

This from the NHS news today:

Students in Mr. Russ Brummer’s ecology class have spent a majority of their class time this fall on Burleigh Mountain. There they have established survey plots, identified and counted trees, measured tree diameter and heights, taken tree cores to determine the age of the forest, and counted saplings. We will use this data during the winter term to determine forest type, health, volume of lumber, and stages of forest succession. The goal of the class is to determine the best uses for the forests on Burleigh Mountain based upon its resources.
