Second Annual Chicken Bowl!
You might remember last year Plymouth State University hosted a gathering of ropes course facilitators, concocted a slew of humorous challenges and dubbed it the Chicken Bowl. Kimberly and I competed in a few events but did not take home the coveted golden rubber chicken.
Overall it was a lot of fun and provided a great opportunity for PSU and NHS ropes course folks to hang out, network and engage in friendly competition.
After the staff training at PSU this past summer we agreed that Burleigh Mountain should host the competition this year. I'm proud to announce details of this year's event!
We'll be having knot tying duels, partner climbs on the Alpine Tower and a multi team, high element complex initiative that should be pretty exciting. A round of slalom ice blocking will finish off the big day.
While we all made a big deal about the competition last year the real purpose of the day is to meet other challenge course facilitators, network, exchange ideas and have a fun day.
I'm hoping to get more organizations involved so if you read this and know someone who would be interested in attending please pass along the flyer! To see a large version of the flyer click the picture above.
We'll be returning to campus at the end of the day for a pot luck supper at our house. Years ago Colin and I and a couple of other Alpinist tres serieux thought it might be funny to cut together all the parts of all the bad mountain movies out there. Sort of the anti-Banff if you will. So for the finale of the day we'll borrow a projector from the school and show the 'best of the worst.' If you're still not sure quite what I'm talking about you can check out the trailer I put together.
Stay tuned here for more information as we get closer to the date. I'll start emailing the flyer but please pass it along if you know of anyone who you think might be interested!
