High Rapell


Ted sent me this picture from the fall when the Outdoor Adventures group did a rap from the top of the AT. We brought a bunch of students to the top where they went onto an anchor at the top of the tower. I was up there to make sure the switch happened well. Then one at a time they went onto the rap line with an additional belay from below.

The first step off the platform was the hardest part for most of the students, but once they were past that they did great. I'm facinated by something I've observed on the tower. Sometimes it seems easier for us to trust our belayers while climbing and lowering than to trust ourselves while rappelling. Why is that?

In any case as you can see Sadie is enjoying herself!
